FAMILY SPONSORSHIP

Family reunification has a significant place in Canada. If you are a permanent resident or a Canadian citizen, and you are 18 years of age or older, you can submit an application to sponsor your spouse, common-law partner, conjugal partner, your siblings (under very stringent circumstances), and/or your dependent children to immigrate to Canada as permanent residents.
Family Sponsorship Requirements

There are family sponsorship requirements, such as medical exams and criminal background checks, which the sponsor and the person being sponsored must meet in order to qualify for family sponsorship.

Committing to sponsoring a family member to come to Canada means that you have to support them financially, ensuring that they do not need social assistance from the government.
Our immigration lawyers and support staff understand that family sponsorship is a major responsibility. While being separated from a loved one can be stressful for both the sponsor and the person being sponsored, the financial and time commitment involved in bringing someone to a foreign country can be significant. These family sponsorship applications can be long and daunting and our team of immigration lawyers at Boghossian Morais LLP understands the potential difficulties.
